The Mod Club

It's hard to believe music could make you feel this good!

Founded in 2000 by Toronto friends Marysia Czarski and Sharon Ross, and hosted by CBC'S Avril Benoit, the annual 'OPEN DOOR' Festival of Music for the city's three front-line Red Door Family Shelters reflects the tradition of presenting rising stars and talent beyond the horizon in an eminently street-worthy cause and has become a "cause celebre in the city". (National Post)

The Red Door Shelter provides safe and supportive emergency housing to individuals and families in need of refuge from domestic violence and to those who find themselves without accommodation. It assists residents in their efforts to establish a stable life outside the shelter  through education, counseling, community services and advocacy on their behalf.

This year's line up includes multi-instrumentalist with a cinematic flair for lyrical imagery, ANDY STOCHANSKY, politically-charged folk-jazz-funk indie music sensation, EMBER SWIFT, delightfully harmonious, new Universal artists, DALA, ascendant urban jazz artist, KELLYLEE EVANS, swoon-worthy acoustic balladeer, CRAIG CARDIFF, and the spectacular MCC CHOIR with multi-faceted and powerfully big-voiced, JULIE MICHELS.
All of these musicians donate their time and undeniable talent to make a real and tangible local difference.

Open Door 2006 will be a night of great karma and incredible music in aid of families who need help to help themselves!
