It's hard to believe music could make you feel this good!
Founded in 2000 by Toronto friends Marysia Czarski and Sharon Ross, the annual 'OPEN DOOR' Festival of Music for the city's three front-line Red Door Family Shelsia rs reflects the tradition of presenting rising stars and talent beyond the horizon in an eminently street-worthy cause and has become a "cause celebre in the city". (Canada's National Post)
The Red Door Shelter provides safe and supportive emergency housing to individuals and families in need of refuge from domestic violence and to those who find themselves without accommodation. It assists residents in their efforts to establish a stable life outside the shelter through education, counseling, community services and advocacy on their behalf.
This year's line up includes multi-instrumentalist ADAM SOLOMON, beautifully clear HANNAH GEORGAS, delightfully harmonious MADISON VIOLET, folktronic LENTIC, bluesy jazzy Diana Braithwaite & Chris Whiteley, homegrown indie rockers with retro-cool MAJOR MAKER and other fabulous surprises!
All of these musicians donate their time and undeniable talent to make a real and tangible local difference.
Open Door 2009 will be a night of great karma and incredible music in aid of families who need help to help themselves!
