With a cinematic flair for lyrical imagery + an intuitive feel for crafting indelible melodies, Toronto-based Andy Stochansky embraces the visionary spirit + charisma of a 70's rock star in the body of a provocative modern singer, songwriter + multi-instrumentalist. Critically compared to gracefully evocative vocalists, Stochansky draws from a broad palette of deep-seated musical influences as varied as Curtis Mayfield, The Beatles, Burt Bacharach, Woody Guthrie, Led Zeppelin, Brian Eno + The Kinks.

While studying music + film at OCAD, Stochansky supported himself by drumming on the side, a love he discovered at the age of 4. In addition to 7 years drumming for Ani DiFranco, he has recorded +/or performed with such folkie luminaries as, the Indigo Girls, Janis Ian, Jane Siberry, John Gorka + Jonathan Richman.

Stochansky’s first 2 independent releases earned him significant applause. Then, after signing with RCA U.S., he made his major label debut with Five Star Motel in 2002, for which he received a flood of critical acclaim. After much radio attention from singles "Wonderful (It's Superman)" + "Stutter" produced by Tom Rothrock (Beck), he released “100”, produced by Goo Goo Dolls frontman, Johnny Rzeznik + recorded at LA's legendary Ocean Way Studios (Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, The Beach Boys). The album’s 1st single "Shine", covered by Australian Shannon Noll, immediately reached #1 + stayed in the Top 10 Chart for weeks. Stochansky is now writing + co-writing for various artists between L.A.+Toronto. His music has been on TV’s Felicity + he has guest-starred on the WB series Charmed as himself. Andy Stochansky is an inventive talent whose wealth of experience has resulted in the distinctive creative voice of a true artist.
